Family history
Adah Uftali was born to two geologists on Trill in 2356. Her parents frequently visited different planets and Adah grew up among the stars, rather than on her home planet as she went wherever her parents next project was.
She was independent from the time when she was very young but was not a loner. Adah spent time with her brother, Adin, and he was her playmate and only friend. She and her brother are still close today.
Adah and her brother were mostly home-taught by their mother, but the home-schooling curriculum stopped at Intermediate School level. The Uftali family moved back to Trill so their children could go to Secondary School. Adah was often picked on by the other students because her parents were so poor, and did not like school. Instead of making friends she stayed home and read books or helped her parents in the field.
Adah graduated from Secondary School and attended the Trill Science Ministry on a scholarship. She majored in Astrophysics and it was then she decided to apply for a symbiont. She was accepted and spent two years with the program, finally being joined with the Jeq symbiont at 22 years old. The Jeq symbiont has had 5 previous hosts, Adah being the sixth.
After her Joining, she applied to Starfleet Academy, for one of her previous hosts had been an officer and enjoyed her time in the Fleet. Adah Jeq graduated with honors from Starfleet Academy, gaining a degree in stellar cartography and a minor in computer systems.
She was assigned to the USS Helios after graduating from the Academy, but left for personal reasons. Afterward she was assigned to the USS Charlottetown, the USS Pharaoh, and finally Arcadia Station where she stayed for a while as its Science Officer. She found a home on Arcadia, but opted to take a research post at Starfleet's Omicron Pi Station in the Briar Patch. After the six month nebular research was finished she decided to leave Arcadia Station and be assigned to the USS Nimitz.
However, due to extenuating evidence, Jeq was arrested and court marshaled. It was alleged that Jeq attempted to assassinate a noted Federation diplomat, Thaleen Deander, and the charges against her were severe. Adah spent 18 months on the frozen moon Europa at the Federation penal colony there. Her original sentence was 25 years but it was found later that she was innocent due to a confession by the diplomat she allegedly tried to kill. All charges were dropped and her rank was reinstated. Though she enjoyed astrophysics immensely, she felt an urge to become a doctor again (probably due to her previous host Windi Jeq) She returned to Trill and took 2 years to complete her medical degree at the Starfleet Medical Annex there.
Though the judicial bungle was Starfleet's own, it was still difficult to post Jeq on a starship after her alleged murder charges. Jeq appealed to her friend and former Commanding Officer, Jonathan Rome, who offered her a medical posting on his ship, the USS Scimitar. She joined the Scimitar shortly after she took the Hippocratic Oath and became a physician.
THE HOSTS OF JEQ:
Norma Jeq: First host of the Jeq symbiont. Friendly and outgoing, she was a language teacher in a secondary school on Trill who loved to garden. Died of old age at 87.
Yori Jeq: Second host of Jeq. Was a oceanographer who discovered many previously undiscovered aquatic species in the Trill oceans. Father of 4 children, his wife died when she was 30 and he was left to raise the children alone and continue his work. Died of old age at 70.
Genot Jeq: Third host of Jeq. Was an engineer and pilot who designed the precursors to many Trill vessels today. Quiet and aloof, he worked by himself and did not care for others. He liked to gamble and was mortally wounded in a bar fight, leading to his death.
Windi Jeq: Fourth host of Jeq. Was a doctor in Starfleet, who reached the rank of Commander. She served aboard the USS Everest as its Chief Medical Officer. Was a mother of a young daughter who died of an incurable disease that affected the crew. Carried the guilt that she couldn't cure the disease with her all her life and subsequently underwent professional counseling. Died of old age at 78 on Trill.
Bajj Jeq: Fifth host of Jeq. Was a diplomat for the Federation. Negotiated many disputes and was well-respected and liked for his charisma and intellect. Unfortunately, he made many enemies and narrowly escaped many assassination attempts except for the one that facilitated his death. The symbiont was barely saved and implanted into Adah.

*Psycho-Medical File Update:
SD 10912.31, Dr. A. Arinn (Federation Europa Penal Colony) reporting
Inmate Jeq is an interesting character. Unlike most of her peers she is relatively calm about her entire experience on Europa. She has a sort of brooding melancholy about her but she often does not speak unless spoken to. However she has been reassigned cells five times in the last three months due to scuffles with her cellmates.
When I first saw Jeq she was the same as I spoke to her today. Firmly believing in her innocence I made her undergo a number of counseling sessions to have her come to terms with her crime. However she did not break as most often do.
She is a strong woman, both mentally and physically, but has violent tendencies. She has had a few problems with some of the more rowdy inmates in her cell block. However, she remained unscathed while managing to put her would-be assailants to the Medical Wing with a number of broken limbs and head contusions. She has been identified as a loner and does not belong to any group inside of this colony.
All-in-all, Jeq believes that she will be released soon and is just "sitting on her hands" waiting until that day. I doubt that it will arrive in a timely manner.

SD 10601.20, CMO S. Severns (USS Helios) reporting
There is nothing much out of the ordinary with Jeq... if you can call 5 past lives nothing out of the ordinary!
The woman is remarkable, to say the least. I can only imagine all the things she has seen and sometimes I envy her experiences. She works hard and with the passion of doing something for the first time even though she has done a thousand things in her lifetimes.
Medically, she is healthy and athletic, loving a good bout of kickboxing or yoga on alternate days. Often though, she will forget to eat or sleep when she is working, prompting a visit.
However, she does not get along with people easily and it takes a while for her to truly open up to someone she considers a friend. She often speaks her mind whenever she feels but usually her insight is valuable even if it is frank and sometimes crass.
She loves new challenges and frequently changes jobs aboard the Helios. From Counselor, Helm, Operations, and of course Science, she finds it hard to combine all of her experiences into one job. She has since settled for Science, since two of her degrees are from the field.
Adah has made some friends, but few deeper relationships than that. Many men admire her, but she turns them down. She has never given me an exact reason and I often wonder what it would take for a man to sweep her off her feet.

Other
Adah is very tall for a Trill female and is lean and slender. She has her blond hair cut short in a pixie cut for ease of styling. She is a very pretty woman with warm hazel brown eyes and characteristic Trill spots running along her face and body.
