Born in a Starfleet family. His whole family has been or is a member of Starfleet. The most notorious in active service would be his cousin John Exeter. In Jim's eye the best pilot in the fleet.

Jim lived a simple life compaired to a few others. Full of himself and has a mean sense of humour. Likes having a laugh at somebody elses expense. Also head strong and arrogant to boot....like a few people of the Exeter clan.
