Solek was born and raised on Vulcan to his mother, T'Paan and his father Kalek. He spent all of his life, up until his 33rd birthday, living and working on Vulcan until he decided to leave his home planet behind and experience something new. Variety in life, at that point, was only logical.
He studied mechanics and advanced electronics on Vulcan, spending much of his life as an engineer-type worker. At Starfleet Academy, he further studied engineering, but also took up an interest in tactical and the sciences.
Solek has a long scar down his back from a near-fatal accident as he was working on a shuttle-like ship on Vulcan. On very rare ocassions, he has been known to 'drift away', that is, he falls into a mental state where he appears awake but is essentially asleep. This was caused by a blow to the head in the previously mentioned accident.
