Family history
Ashley Lynn Yates was born on the beautiful Betazed, where she lived the first ten years of her adolescent life. A few days after the young girl’s tenth birthday Justin Yates, her Terran father, received a communication from Starfleet Command. Command had offered him a position at a Research Facility, located in London, England. The Yates family moved to this location a few days later, where they remained for the rest of Ashley’s youth. During this time, Ashley acquired an English accent, one that she still has today.

Unlike most hybrid Betazoids, Ashley developed telepathic abilities as well as the usual empathic abilities. Researchers believed that the young girl developed telepathic abilities due to an imbalance in the gene pool. Their research concluded that a larger part of Ashley’s genetic makeup came from that of her mother, and very little from her father. Due to this added ability the young Yates attended a type of institution in England that allowed her to gain control. She learned the dos and don’ts of these gifts as well as many other life lessons.

Ashley began her Starfleet career at the youthful age of seventeen. Due to her additional training in the Research Facility with her father and mother she was accepted into Starfleet Academy without reservation. The young Betazoid went into The Academy with a cocky attitude, believing that she could breeze right through every course. This attitude caused Yates to meet the bare minimum requirements in order to move to her second year. She was informed by Academy Officials that if she did not bring her scores up, she would be removed from the Academy. In order to be accepted into Medical School Ashley knew that she needed to succeed in all of her courses, which made a point to pass, but not with the best scores that she could have easily attained.

Ashley graduated Starfleet Academy in the lower bottom of her class. She majored in Pre-Med and now had to take the Medical Entrance exam in order to be accepted into Starfleet Medical. Yates had acquired enough knowledge over the years to pass this rather difficult test but her scores were less than admirable. Yates was informed that upon entering Starfleet Medical that she would be monitored. If she did not meet the minimum requirements she would be removed from the program for good.

Ensign Yates worked diligently during her tenure at Starfleet Medical. It was the Betazoid’s dream to become a healer and help those who were in need. The courses were rather difficult, but Ashley took the time to study, speak with her Instructors, and research all of the material at hand. When graduation was upon the Med Students, Ashley was informed that she was ranked 3rd in her class; an accomplishment that she still feels very proud of to this day.

At the age of 25 Ashley Yates awaited her first assignment. After some careful consideration the young woman was assigned to Starbase 422, where she would serve as a Medical Officer. This assignment was rather short-lived, after four months of working on Beta and Gamma Shifts the Betazoid was offered a position aboard the USS Thermason during an Alpha Shift slot. Ashley took this transfer and began her career aboard the Norway Class vessel.

Ashley served well aboard the USS Thermason. She worked well with the crew, medical staff, and all of the patients that came in and out of Sickbay. After six months of hard-work, the Chief Medical Officer promoted the young woman to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Yates served aboard the Thermason as a Medical Officer for nearly a year and a half before she was recruited yet again.

Starfleet Special Operations had been watching the young Yates since she first joined Starfleet at seventeen years old. Once they believed Ashley had matured into a semi-fine officer they transferred Ashley into their secret organization. Ashley went through a rigorous month training program. With this training complete, she was assigned to a Special Operations team as their Medical Technician. During this year and a half the young woman had gotten herself into a few sticky situations with Starfleet Command and other species and governments. Ashley could not stand all of the secrets nor how this organization was ran. When she heard of her father’s illness, one that was fatal, she resigned her commission from Starfleet to be with him.

Ashley moved to San Francisco, California, where her father currently lived with her mother. Justin had worked as an Academy Instructor for almost a decade before he passed away. Yates did not take this death well but with time the young Betazoid prospered and dealt with the death the best that she could.

One night the young Yates was commed by her cousin, Michael Lammel. He had informed her of the accident that had caused him to loose a leg. Ashley tried to comfort her cousin but he did not want it. He explained his situation as well as his wishes to leave the USS Triton as her Counselor. Ashley did not understand why Michael informed her of this until she realized that he wanted her to take his place. The Betazoid’s thoughts about Starfleet were not the best but she promised him that she would think about this.

Yates spoke with her mother with regards to this decision. Crystal informed her daughter that this was her decision. After a few days the young woman decided to take her cousin’s offer and accepted the position of Ship’s Counselor aboard the USS Triton.

During her tenure as Counselor, Ashley felt a bit strange. Her main degree was in medicine not that of psychology. Ashley did acquire a minor in the psychology field however she did not have any real training in this field. When the Chief Medical Officer position aboard the Triton opened up, Yates requested transfer to this position, which was granted to her.

Ashley served in many capacities aboard the USS Triton. In the beginning, she served on many Away Teams and was also promoted to the rank of Lieutenant after her first mission. It seemed that she was liked aboard the Triton and reshaped the Medical Department to a great success.

The Chief Medical Officer faced many great challenges aboard the Triton. She had lost a friend, Leriana Paith, the Chief Science Officer at the time during a Titanic incident. It seemed that an entity sent the crew back to this time, which caused many different events to occur.

Ashley has served aboard the USS Triton for over two years, where she has witnessed many crew and friend changes. Her first love interest, Lahn Everitt, left the Triton without any real explanation. The young woman had experienced the love of one other, the Vulcan Chief Science Officer Kalek. But yet again, the young officer left without any real explanation.

Eventually, Ashley was promoted to Lieutenant Commander, and earned more responsibility aboard the Triton. There have still been many changes, but Yates learned to deal with them and perform her position to the best of her ability. This is what she has decided to live by, to help those when needed.

After serving aboard the Triton for nearly a year after, Special Operations decided that they wanted the services of this young woman yet again. Ashley was transferred from the Triton and sent to Starbase 16 where a group of recruiters attempted to get her back into their ‘group’. She of course declined on the spot and left immediately.

Yates was then transferred to the USS Pharaoh, a Defiant Class vessel, which was in great need of skilled officers. She was made the Chief Medical Officer but then was quickly transferred to the Counselor position. It seemed that the Captain informed Starfleet Command that they were in need of a Counselor more then a Chief Medical Officer.

This assignment was short-lived however. Around this same time Ashley had been offered a position in command school where she could sharpen her command skills. Yates decided that this would be the best move for her career and decided to accept this transfer. Ashley Yates left the USS Pharaoh shortly after that.

Before beginning her command training Starfleet assigned Ashley to the USS Sharikahr where she was to serve as a command/operations specialist during one of their missions. After completing this mission with the crew Ashley took her leave back to Earth, where she would complete her command training.

After three months of rigorous training Ashley L. Yates graduated from command training. She did rather well during her time on Earth and found the command field a rather enjoyable one. However, once she graduated it was time for her to report back to her duties as a Starfleet Officer. Finally, Lieutenant Commander Yates was assigned to the USS Pendragon as her Chief Medical Officer, a position that she was glad to hold once again.

After serving aboard the Pendragon for several years, Ashley was transferred to the Commanding Officer position aboard the Arondight. While in this assignment, she was faced with many complex missions that tested her leadership skills.

After having been apart from Mikal Luchena for an extensive amount of time, the two decided to get married on Stardate 10707.21. After the marriage, Yates started to think about her current position, which forced her to remain far apart from her husband. She vowed to fix that situation if all possible eventually. She succeeded in this vow. Captain Yates-Luchena was transferred to the newly commissioned USS Pendragon on Stardate 10707.23.

Classified Information

During a classified Starfleet Intelligence mission, the USS Pendragon was subjected to the effects of Warp 10. These effects seemed to take its toll on some members of the Pendragon crew. Captain Ashley Lynn Yates-Luchena was caught in a Warp 10 field. It was assumed that the Ashley Lynn Yates-Luchena that returned to the Pendragon was of that time and plane. However, Starfleet Intelligence has discovered that this is not the case.

Ashley Lynn Yates-Luchena is now classified as MIA. Due to the effects of the Warp 10 field, a completely different Ashley Lynn Yates is present within this time. After extensive evaluation, Starfleet Command has decided to issue Yates a commission of Commander and place her aboard the Pendragon as her Chief Medical Officer. Her progress will continue to be monitored as time progresses.
