Cadet Alex T. Nguyen is your average Starfleet recruit. Human, he hails from Earth (or Sol III) and is Vietnamese. His parents served in various administrative offices of the President of the United Federation of Planets and so he is not unfamiliar with San Francisco even though he was originally born on the east coast of that continent.
Having studied Starship Engineering Operations and Safety during his first year he thought that might be his path but instead quickly took on more Science and Tactical Systems classes at the Academy. In addition, although not anywhere near as competent as a Ship's Surgeon, he does know his way around a Medical Tricorder and could serve as an EMT of sorts during away-missions.

Usually wears his head shaved.
