Throughout his early life he has lived in the Trigon system, moving from one place to another with his parents. Because of that he is one of the few Primates that are more resilientthan is considered normal for a Xindi-Primate.
Being tired of moving all the time he left his parents once he was old enough and lived in the Federation. It wasn't long before he entered the Academy as he did miss the traveling quite a bit.
While at the Academy he had some trouble making friends, both because he was looked upon for being the first of his kind at the Academy as well as never really having fully developed the social skills to make 'first contact'. Fortunatly he has been a quick learner and although he still has the tendency to retreat to privacy, he strives to make the contacts necessary to make his life in Starfleet work.

Because he and his parents moved so much he didn't really have standard school education, but rather a mix of home study and knowledge by experience.
In StarFleet Academy he proved to be quite skillfull because of the experiences in his early life.
He also proved to be quite intelligent for someone his age and graduated with with high scores all round.

Medical profile
As a child he had been sick a lot from different deseases and because of that he now has a more stronger immune system than other Xindi-primates.
