Larn Kostra

Kostra was born to famed Betazoid diplomat Marxius Kostra and psychologist Myrna Kostra. As a Betazoid psychologist, Myrna's job basically consisted of prying into people's minds to determine the cause of their problems. As such, Larn learned at an early age to defend himself from mental probing, and even an expert telepath can not tell that Larn is hiding anything from them.

Applying to Starfleet as soon as he could, Larn excelled in the fields of medicine as well as psychology (a trait undoubtedly inherited from his mother). After graduating the Academy with counselor qualifications, he attended Starfleet Medical and earned his M.D.

After serving with distinction aboard both the Ganymede and the Geneva (in both medical and counseling roles), Kostra transferred to the Scorpius, where he was forced into an indefinite suspension from duty after an allegation by CTO Selan that Kostra was a member of the elusive Section 31. Even though the misunderstanding was eventually cleared up, Kostra resigned from Starfleet and spent the next 4 years on Betazed with his father working for the Betazed Bureau of Diplomacy and resisting the Dominion invasion of Betazed, during which his mother was killed in an attempt by the Jem'Hadar to flush out his father, a leading official. After the Dominion War, he finished his work on his xenoarchaeology degree (always a hobby of his) at the University of Betazed. By then ready to be back in space, Kostra applied for reinstatement of his Starfleet commission and has been posted to the USS Andromeda.
