Education
Dirk first attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, but failed out after his first year due to lack of interest. The next year, he enrolled at the Science Academy in Brussels. He was initially interested in studying medicine, but switched his focus to physical sciences shortly after completing his premed requirements. Dirk majored in quantum mechanics and warp theory before deciding to join Starfleet. At Starfleet Academy he continued his education in both physics and medicine. His marks at the academy never placed him at the top of his class, nor was he ever at risk of failing.
