My mother, taking after her South African Great-Grandmother, was a writer of obscure fiction. She moved to Kyoto when very young, because she believed that there were more opportunities for authors there. She had a brief liason with a Japanese Businessman, who left her when she told him she was pregnant with me. She loved the city and stayed on. I never knew my father, and she never told me his name.

Having just been promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, I am having serious thoughts about continuing my education - particularly in the fields of subspace communication.

Also, thoughts of the past are coming up more and more often, about godd and very good friends from the past - particularly those I knew and was close to at university.
