Family history
Dr. Joseph Trask is a well-regarded Xenoarchaeologist, specializing in galactic antiquity sites across the Federation. Marrying a co-researcher, the Trask family traveled together from their home in Perth to dig site after dig site. The Trask children grew up learning about long-gone civilizations, and learned to fall in love with the study.
When Adam was 13, Dr. Trask retired from field work to write books on behalf of the University of Melbourne. While this saddened Adam, it was nothing compared to the falling out between his beloved older sister and role model Sydney and his father. Sydney wished to join Starfleet, and Dr. Trask wanted her to go into academia. The two parted on bad terms, an event that broke young Adam's heart. It would be years before the two parties reconciled.
Adam continued his studies, and stayed in contact with his sister as she explored the galaxy, got married to her husband, Garth, and reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander. When Adam turned 18, he approached his father to join Starfleet as well. Unlike with Sydney, Dr. Trask gave his blessing, having deeply regretted his actions with Adam's sister. Adam applied for the Academy and was accepted, leaving Australia for San Francisco.
The youngest Trask, Ashley, remains close to the rest of her farflung family, but is the only of the three children to enter college and try to follow in her parents' footsteps. She is currently a sophomore at the College of Melbourne, and is a star student.

Education
Adam has recieved basic public schooling, but due to his family's galaxy-trotting ways, he has been transferred multiple times. Despite this, he has scored well in language, history, and literature courses, although his math and science scores are at the average for a Starfleet Academy graduate.
Adam enjoys learning new languages, and is fairly fluent for both reading and writing in English, Mandarin, German, and as much Vulcan as he can actually pronounce. He is learning Klingon and Andorian currently, studies he hopes to complete while serving. Part of the reason why he is learning these languages is due to a somewhat irrational distrust of the Universal Translator.

Medical profile
Medically, Adam is quite healthy. He has no genetic disorders or has suffered any traumatic injury. On the whole, he is fit enough to serve, but is far less in shape than a Security or Tactical officer, his skinny and thinly muscled body a far cry from the bodybuilder physique a Security officer might have.
Other
Average build. Wears his hair short and parted in the mid. Bookish face. Has a scar along right leg from a climbing accident during Starfleet Academy training.
